Do I Need A New Computer?

INTRODUCTION

Computer technology is rapidly evolving. Ever heard someone say, "The minute you step out the door with your new computer, it is outdated"? It’s true from a technology standpoint. Manufacturers are always working on the next great breakthrough. What really matters, though, is does your computer do what you want it to do?

If all you ever do is surf the Internet, write email and balance your checkbook, your 5 year old computer may be just fine. If you are into the latest games or graphic design, then a 5 year old computer is worthless. Only you can make that decision.

The hard truth is today’s computers are wickedly fast. Compare a Pentium III or AMD Athlon to a Pentium 133 and you will see huge differences in all areas: Video, sound, data access, you name it, the speed difference is dramatic, and with today’s cheap prices, a new system can be surprisingly affordable. UPGRADING

Upgrading is often the most affordable choice. That is unless your system is so old, even a processor upgrade means a new motherboard, new memory, new video and new operating system.. If that is the case, buy a new system. In the long run, the savings are huge. While very few of us are fortunate to have deep pockets, it does pay to regularly upgrade your system. That way you can avoid having to do it all at once, and spread the expenses out over years.
