Three
Speed Boosts
These
three upgrades can dramatically improve your systems performance.
They are listed from cheapest to most expensive.
ADD
MORE MEMORY
Adding
more memory can often cost less than $100.00 installed for an
additional 64MB, and the speed boost can be huge, especially if
you are upgrading from 16 or 24MB. Memory prices fluctuate wildly
though, so call for current prices.
ADD
A NEW VIDEO CARD
Todays
high performance video cards have their own memory, own processors
and are increasingly reducing the workload on your computers
processor for an overall speed boost. The older your system is,
the more it can benefit from a new video card
UPGRADE
YOUR PROCESSOR
Certainly
the most expensive option is to upgrade your computer processor.
Oftentimes, your motherboard can take a faster processor without
problem, and there are kits available for old pre-Pentium computers
that can radically improve performance. Sometimes, however, if
your computer is just too old, upgrading the processor can mean
a new motherboard, new memory and sometimes even a new video card.
